Football hits the field for first preseason practice of 2008
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The 2008 Birmingham-Southern football squad hit the field today for its first preseason practice of the 2008 season.
Eighty-seven players reported to preseason camp this weekend as the Panthers practiced today at 4 p.m. at the new BSC Athletic Complex in shorts and helmets.
Prior to practice, the Panthers had a conditioning test consisting of 20 "half-gassers", which are sprints across the width of the field and back.
Head Coach Eddie Garfinkle said he was pleased overall with the team's first practice today.
"We were fortunate today because the weather was cloudy and cool," Garfinkle said. "We focused on a lot of fundamentals today and just started working on offensive and defensive basics. All the guys had great attitudes today and put in a great effort and worked hard."
BSC practices again tomorrow, Aug. 11, at the BSC Athletic Complex at 4 p.m.
