Panthers practice in full pads for the first time this preseason

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern football team practiced in full pads for the first time this preseason, Thursday.

“The offense had another good day today, but the defense got tired,” head coach Eddie Garfinkle said. “We are still installing in the kicking game. We make the defense finish each play by running to the football, and the players got tired but it will pay off on Saturdays once the season starts.

Garfinkle also commented that quarterback Joe Thigpen and cornerback Brad Stockdale are having particularly good preseason showings thus far.

The Panthers have their first two-a-day, of which they are only allowed three, tomorrow, practicing at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the BSC Athletic Complex. BSC then has its first preseason intra-squad scrimmage on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m.
