Panthers begin second week of preseason campBIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Getting two more practices under its belt today, the Birmingham-Southern football team was back on the field to begin week two of its 2008 preseason camp, Monday.
The team’s morning practice was in full pads and included a lot of full contact work. Head Coach Eddie Garfinkle said that he and his staff emphasized the first five minutes of the game and the first five minutes of the third quarter.
“The one offense had a 65-yard opening touchdown drive on the two defense, and two offense had a 65-yard opening touchdown drive on the one defense,” Garfinkle said. “Defensively, we continue to struggle. The good thing is that our offense shows a lot of big play potential.
“Today’s afternoon practice was in shorts and shoulder pads, in which we installed more of the kicking game, and corrected mistakes from the morning practice,” Garfinkle concluded.
BSC practices again tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the BSC Athletic Complex.
