BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern football team kicks off its second season on the Hilltop since 1939 this Saturday on the road, traveling to face Campbell University at 1 p.m. ET at the brand new CU Football Stadium in Buies Creek, N.C.
Campbell is also fielding a new team with its first football season in 58 years kicking off on Saturday.
Last season, the Panthers went 3-7 with wins over Mississippi College JV, LaGrange College JV, and Sewanee. Quarterback Joe Thigpen returns this season after leading BSC in both rushing and passing in 2007, rushing for 367 yards with nine touchdowns and passing for 2,059 yards with 13 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Saturday’s game will be broadcast on WCLN 107.3, and live stats, live audio, and live video will all be available to listen or view at Campbell’s official athletic site, www.GoCamels.com.
After Saturday’s game, next up for the Panthers is a home date with LaGrange College, Saturday, Sept. 6, at 12 p.m. at Vestavia Hills High School in Vestavia, Ala. BSC’s first three home games will be played at off-campus venues while construction is completed on the new BSC Athletic Complex, which will host the Homecoming game against Sewanee, Nov. 8.
