Panthers to open new stadium in Saturday's Homecoming game against Sewanee

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. The Birmingham-Southern football team will make history this weekend, playing on campus for the first time at the brand-new Panther Stadium for Homecoming 2008 against Sewanee. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

The Panthers (2-6) are led by sophomore quarterback Joe Thigpen with 817 passing yards and six touchdowns. Sophomore running back Walter Arrington leads BSC on the ground with 442 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Thigpen has also rushed for five touchdowns.

Sewanee (2-6) is led by quarterback Patrick Shelton with 1,120 passing yards and five touchdowns, and Trey Reliford with 429 yards rushing and four touchdowns.
