Panthers begin preparations for Rhodes game next weekend

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Although this week is an open date for the Birmingham-Southern football team, the Panthers began preparations for the game next Saturday, Sept. 26, against Rhodes College at noon in Panther Stadium.

Junior offensive lineman Jonathan Jones, sophomore offensive lineman Darius Dalton, and sophomore defensive back Zac Napier have been named captains for the Rhodes game.

"We practiced yesterday and today in full pads," head coach Eddie Garfinkle said. "Today we scrimmaged the varsity against the JV for about 45 minutes. We will practice again tomorrow and the players will be off Friday and Saturday. We have a JV game against Lagrange on Sunday, at Lagrange."

The Panther JV squad will also play at home on Sunday, Sept. 27, at noon against Southern Tech Academy.
