Football travels to face Sewanee, Saturday
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern football team is on the road again this weekend, traveling to take on Sewanee, Saturday, Oct. 24, at 1:30 p.m. in Sewanee, Tenn.
The Panthers are 3-3 on the season, while the Tigers are 0-6. This will be the third meeting between the teams, with BSC holding a 2-0 record in the series.
BSC is coming off an exciting 35-28 road win against Austin College last weekend. Junior quarterback #Joe Thigpen#, who was named SCAC Offensive Player of the Week this past week, is 51-of-105 with five touchdowns and four interceptions and 750 passing yards, as well as three touchdowns and 222 yards rushing on 84 carries. Junior tailback #Walter Arrington# leads on the ground with 348 yards and five touchdowns on 64 carries, and junior wide receiver #David Langston# leads with 214 receiving yards and a touchdown on 13 catches. On defense, senior linebacker #Victor Allen# leads with 37 total tackles (12 solo, 25 assisted), followed by sophomore defensive back #Andrew Shannon# with 35 tackles (17 solo, 18 assisted).
For Sewanee, Robert Ratliff and Patrick Shelton have split time at quarterback. Ratliff is 22-of-51 with one interception, two touchdowns, and 288 yards, while Shelton is 21-of-57 with five interceptions, a touchdown, and 192 yards. Michael Poarch leads with 308 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 112 carries, and Chalankis Brown leads with 116 yards and two touchdowns on six receptions. Trey Reliford leads on defense with 47 tackles (25 solo, 22 assisted).
