Stainback, Shannon named SCAC Players-of-the-Week
SUWANEE, Ga.—Juniors Jimmy Stainback and Andrew Shannon have been named SCAC Offensive and Defensive Players-of-the-Week, the league office announced today.
Stainback, a 6-1 207 pound junior quarterback from Roswell, Ga.,
completed 20-for-30 for 233 yards with two touchdowns against
Huntingdon on Saturday. One of his passing touchdowns was a
41-yarder to the end zone as time expired to tie the game.
Stainback also had 14 carries for 116 yards, averaging 8.3 yards
per carry, with one touchdown on the ground. He totaled 349 yards
of total offense in the Wesley Cup win.
Shannon, a 6-0, 213-pound junior defensive back from
Trussville, Ala., led the Birmingham-Southern defense against
Huntingdon with a school-record 19 tackles. He recorded 13 solo and
6 assisted tackles, as well as two tackles-for-loss, a forced
fumble, and a pass break-up.
The Panthers, who are 2-0 on the season, head to Naples, Fla., this weekend to take on Ave Maria University.
