Pre-BSC:  Lettered at Cullman High School under Coach Mark Britton... held a 26-5 record as a two-year starter... as a junior, threw for 2,631 yards and 28 TDs... led the Bearcats to an undefeated regular season, Region 6 title, and run to the semifinals in the 5A state playoffs his junior year... broke the AHSAA single-season passing yard record that season... named Cullman Times Player of the Week in October 2009... nominated for Gatorade Player of the Year in 2009... ABC 33/40 Player of the Year nomination in 2009... Alabama Sportswriters Player of the Week nomination in October 2009... four-year National Honor Society member... also lettered in golf.
