Football holds first full-pads practice, set to scrimmage Maryville on Thursday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern football team is five days into its 2013 preseason camp and held its first full-pads practice today on Battle Field at Panther Stadium.

"I feel like we're making good progress so far," Head Coach Eddie Garfinkle said. "We have a really strong group of veterans leading the way, and the freshmen have shown a lot of promise as well. We still have a lot of progress to make but I feel like we're on the right track."

The team reported last Thursday, Aug. 15, with 139 players and has now had five official practices. The Panthers will hold two practices tomorrow and will then scrimmage against Maryville College on Thursday, Aug. 22, at 1:30 p.m. on Battle Field at Panther Stadium.

BSC opens its season on the road Sept. 7 against LaGrange, and is at home on Sept. 14 against Hendrix College at 1 p.m.
