In 2007 he earned a scholarship and became a starter for the Blazers, starting in five games before an injury cut his season short. He was a starter again in 2008 but history repeated itself as he suffered another season-ending injury after starting five of the first six games of the year. Hollifield was a two-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
