Jim Stomps was hired as Assistant Coach of the Birmingham-Southern football program in June 2014. He is in charge of coaching the h-backs.

Stomps comes to BSC after a four-year stint at Salem Academy Christian School in Salem, Ore., where he was Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. He has also served as Head Coach and Assistant Athletic Director at Central Fellowship Christian Academy in Macon, Ga., and he was head Coach and Athletic Director at Greenville Christian Academy in Greenville, Miss., David Emanuel Academy in Stillmore, Ga., and Coosa Valley Academy in Harpersville, Ala.

Stomps was also Defensive Coordinator, Linebackers Coach, and Strength and Conditioning Coach at Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Fla., and Line Coach at Wolfson High School, also in Jacksonville. He has also served as Defensive Line Coach and Assistant Strength Coach at Pelham High School in Pelham, Ala. Stomps also had experience at the collegiate level as Assistant Coach at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Fla.

Stomps served in the U.S. Navy from 1990-1994 and attended the University of Montevallo from 2000-2003 before receiving his Bachelor's degree in Sport Science from the U.S. Sports Academy in 2010.
