Panthers Support Be the Match

Football

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the past three years, Birmingham-Southern football has participated in Be The Match to help recruit potential bone marrow donors. This year, the Panthers partnered with the Andy Talley Bone Marrow Foundation for a “Get in the Game. Save a Life.” event and recruited 54 new donors to the Be The Match Registry.

2017-18 Top Male Student-Athletes

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The top Birmingham-Southern male student-athletes were nominated for BSC Male Athlete of the Year. The 2017-18 winner was Jamal Watkins from men's track and field.

Watkins Named D3football.com All-South Region

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Jamal Watkins (Hampton, Ga./Dodge City CC) racked up another postseason honor to cap off a stellar football career with Birmingham-Southern football.  The three-time Southern Athletic Association Special Teams Player of the Year became the fourth Panther in history to earn D3football.com All-South Region honors after being named to the organizations third team offense as a return man.

Watkins Headlines 13 SAA All-Conference Nods for Panthers

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern football team closed out its 2017 season with 13 Southern Athletic Association All-Conference honors, the most since 2012.  Jamal Watkins (Hampton, Ga./Dodge City CC) earned his third straight special teams player of the year award.  He is the first in SAA history to win player of the year honors in three consecutive seasons.

Byers Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior Matthew Byers (Pelham, Ala./John Carroll Catholic HS) was named to the academic all-district first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.  This is his first time on the academic all-district team.

Andrews Named to Fred Mitchell Award Watch List

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After a stellar junior year, Ryder Andrews (Homewood, Ala./Homewood HS) has been named to the Fred Mitchell Award Watch List.  He was one of 41 place-kickers recognized.
