BSC Recognizes Yearly Award Winners at Annual Banquet

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern athletics department announced the winners of its awards and recognized the accomplishments of the student-athletes at its 2019 Athletic Awards Dinner Monday night in the Norton Great Hall on BSC's campus.

Nine Panthers Named to NFF Honor Society

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern football team saw nine Panthers recognized as National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society members.  The 13th class of the society is comprised of college football players from all division.

BSC Places 82 on SAA Academic Honor Roll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.  – The Southern Athletic Association announced its 2018 Fall Academic Honor Roll and Birmingham-Southern Athletics had 82 student-athletes recognized.  To earn the honor, student-athletes must have a 3.25 grade point average or higher at the end of the semester.

Rigby Named Academic All-American

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior long snapper Trent Rigby (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek HS) of Birmingham-Southern football was named a Google Cloud Academic All-American as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Rigby was voted to the second team.

Neese Headlines 17 Panther All-SAA Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After a season with already multiple program records shattered, Birmingham-Southern football set another by earning the most Southern Athletic Association All-Conference honors in program history.  Headlined by Gentry Neese (Franklin, Tenn./Franklin HS), who was named SAA Newcomer of the Year, BSC placed 15 Panthers on All-SAA teams.

Three Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern football team saw three Panthers named Google Cloud Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America.  Seniors Matthew Byers (Pelham, Ala./John Carroll Catholic HS) and Trent Rigby (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek HS), and junior Austin Lewter (Tanner, Ala./Tanner HS) were recognized as some of the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Football Closes Season with Loss to Centre

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern football ended its 2018 season with the most wins the program has seen since 2012.  The Panthers (6-4) fell to Southern Athletic Association rival Centre College 56-20 Saturday to finish 4-4 in conference play.

Andrews Named Special Teams Player of the Week
