HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. - The BSC men's basketball team dropped their final game of 2008 this afternoon, 79-77 at Rust College. The loss drops the Panthers to 5-4 on the season.
The Panthers were outscored by Rust by a single point in each half, resulting in the two-point final margin for the Bearcats. BSC trailed 33-34 after going 12-of-25 from the floor. They outscoerd Rust from the floor, but the Bearcats had two more foul shots which gave them the slim advantage going into the break.
The game remained tight throughout the second half. The Panthers had a good night from the floor. They shot 53-percent from the field, 47-percent from three, and 75-percent from the foul line. The Bearcats went 44, 41, and 60-percent from their end, but they got off 12 more shots by the end of the game.
BSC was led by Nathan West with 20 points, he just missed the double-double with nine assists on the night. Rodger Williams finished with 19 and 6 rebounds. The Panthers were outrebounded 23-36 on the night. Rust's Jahrell Holmes led all scorers with 21 points.
The Panthers will be off for the Christmas break until they return home to host Sewanee on January 2. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. from the Battle.
