Cardinals top Panthers, 78-68
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern (3-3) Panthers fell to the Cardinals of Otterbein College (1-2) Monday night at Bill Battle Coliseum, 78-68. It was the second loss in a row for the Panthers.
The Panthers trailed for the entire first half, getting down as much as 11 to the Cardinals. BSC had a bad shooting half, going 10-of-21 from the field (48-percent) and just 2-of-8 from three (25-percent). The Cardinals went 16-of-25 (64-percent) and 4-of-7 from three. They were able to pull back to just a seven point deficit at the half, 39-32.
The second half started strong, but the Panthers were unable to keep any consistency from the floor and they were never able to dig out of the first half hole. BSC shot 48-percent for the game, and just 32-percent from beyond the three point arc. Otterbein shot 61-percent and 53-percent from three.
BSC tried to turn it on in the closing minutes, and some missed free throws from the Cardinals helped keep it close, but in the end the come-back attempt fell short as the Panthers were unable to close the gap.
The Panthers were led by Aaron Parr with 22 points to lead all scorers, Roger Williams added 14 with Nathan West chipping-in for 10 on the night. Otterbein’s Ian Gardner had 18 points. Roger Williams pulled down the most Panther boards with five.
The Panthers will return to Bill Battle Coliseum on December 13, to host Southeastern Bibl e College. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
