Panthers defeat Pensacola Christian 84-66
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s basketball team defeated the visiting Pensacola Christian Eagles, 84-66 tonight at Bill Battle Coliseum. The win moves the Panthers to 3-0on the season.
BSC gave up the first point of the game to PCC on a foul shot but quickly retook the lead the following possession. The lead got as high as eleven when Aaron Parr caped a 7-0 run that put BSC up 25-14 with just under nine minutes left in the half. ‘Southern was unable to put the game firmly in hand as the period closed. The Eagles cut the lead back down to just one, 29-28, with 2:39 left in the half, but Parr and #Jasen Jonus# got a couple of last-minute three’s to give the Panthers a 35-28 edge at the break.
The Eagles came out at the start of the half determined, and despite the Panthers getting the early lead back up as high as 18, Pensacola pulled back to within four points with 10:43 left to play, 48-44. Jasen Jonus broke the streak for BSC with a three from the corner to regain the momentum for the Panthers and PCC would not get that close again.
