Panthers drop second game at Austin, 75-68
SHERMAN, Texas - The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team dropped its second game of the season today at Austin College. The Roos defeated the Panthers 75-68 in Sherman, moving the Panthers to 13-2, and 5-2 in the SCAC.
The Roos scored first and held on to the lead until the last minute of the first half. Austin was never able to put the Panthes away. BSC took their first lead of the game thanks to a put-back from #Blaise White# to put the Panthers up 27-25.
The Panthers held on to that lead into the second half, but they too were unable to stretch the lead into double-digits. The lead changed hands ten times over the course of the game. Unfortunately for the Panthers their last lead came with 3:05 remaining, 60-59. Austin out-scored BSC 16-8 over the closing minutes to hand the Panthers their second loss of the season.
#Aaron Parr# was the only Panther in double-figures with 12 points. The Panthers shot just 35 percent from the floor and 18 percent from three. Austin was only slightly better at 40 and 33 percent on their end. With so many missed shots there were quite a few rebounds to be had. Austin held a slim advange there, 44-42. #Roger Williams# pulled in a game-high nine rebounds for BSC.
The Panthers will return to action next Friday at home as they host Hendrix College. Game time is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
