Box Score

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team kept their perfect home record intact tonight with a 75-68 win over the visiting Hendrix College Warriors.  The win moves the Panthers to 14-2 on the season and 6-2 in SCAC play.

The Panthers' shooting started chilly, just 2-of-9 from the field, allowing the Warriors to claim the early lead.  The Panthers spent much of the half playing catch-up.  The Panthers trailed by as many as seven in the frame. #Roger Williams# sparked a mini-run at the end of the half which gave BSC their largest lead of the period at six, 36-30.  The margin held to the break, with the Panthers up 38-32 at the half.

The Panthers opened the second half on a 6-0 run to go up 44-32 before the Warriors called a time out to staunch the bleeding.  They remained close throughout the half, but never retook their first-half lead.

Nick Heathscott, the Warriors' leading scorer, fouled out of the game with seven minutes to go after BSC's defense shut him down with just four points on 2-of-5 shooting. He averaged 17.2 points per game before coming to Birmingham.

#Aaron Parr# led the Panthers with 16 points, going 5-of-13 from the floor with three assists and three rebounds on the night.  #Roger Williams# and #Wheeler Flemming# also broke into double-figures with 14 and 12 points respectively.  Cal Rose led the Warriors with 20 points and three rebounds.

BSC shot a combined 24-of-55 from the floor (44 percent), 5-of-17 from three (29 percent), and 22-of-28 from the charity stripe for 79 percent.

The Panthers will return to Bill Battle Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. to host Millsaps.  The 1990 BSC National Championship team will be honored at halftime of the game with the Majors.
