Jonus, Parr earn SCAC post-season honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Men’s basketball players Jasen Jonus and Aaron Parr both earned Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference post-season honors, the league office announced today, as Jonus was named Co-Newcomer of the Year, and Parr was named to the All-Conference Second Team.

Jonus, a sophomore from Boaz, Ala., was one of the SCAC's best three-point shooters all season, finishing third in the league in three-point field goal percentage (.410) and fourth in three-pointers made per game (2.7). He was BSC’s second-leading scorer at 11.5 points per contest. Jonus, who played the final eight games of the season with a torn PCL ligament, posted his numbers while playing only 18.9 minutes per game. He shares the Newcomer of the Year award with Andrew Galow of Rhodes College.

Parr, a senior from Atlanta, led the team in scoring with 12.9 points per game as well as free-throw percentage (.813), which ranked him third in the conference.

Jonus and Parr helped lead the Panthers to an impressive 20-5 overall record this past season, as well as a share in the SCAC Eastern Division regular season title.
