SEWANEE, Tenn.—The Birmingham-Southern men’s basketball team picked up its 12th straight win Friday evening, defeating Sewanee on the road, 78-53, in the Fowler Center.
The Panthers move to 17-1 overall and 11-1 in the SCAC, while the Tigers fall to 8-12 overall and 3-9 in league play.
Junior Jasen Jonus and sophomore Kevin Kegarise led the Panthers with 14 points each. Sophomore Zac Richards led with six rebounds, and sophomore Blaise White led with five assists.
Jonus hit the first two shots of the game – both three-pointers – as BSC proceeded to go up 8-0 and never looked back, leading by as much as 28 in the first half, courtesy of a 16-0 run. In the second half, the Panthers led by as much as 34.
BSC shot 50 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from three-point range, and went 9-of-12 (75 percent) at the free throw line. The Panthers pulled down one more rebound than Sewanee with 33, and committed five fewer turnovers with 11.
The Panthers travel to Atlanta to take on Oglethorpe for their next game, this Sunday at 2 p.m.
