ATLANTA, Ga.—Senior Zac Richards has been named the inaugural Southern Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced today.
Richards, a forward from Hoover, Ala., recorded 23 points in each of the No. 12 Panthers' two wins this weekend and also led the squad in rebounding in both games, pulling down nine against Ozarks on Friday and eight against Huntingdon on Saturday to average 8.5 boards per game. He shot 8-12 (.667) on Friday and 11-15 (.733) on Saturday to average a red-hot .704 for the week. Richards was also 8-11 (.727) from the free throw line and had eight assists (four in each game) as well as three total steals to earn the Player of the Week distinction.
BSC is on the road for its next five games, facing LaGrange this Tuesday at 8 p.m. Eastern, and then traveling to Newport News, Va., for the Christopher Newport/Point Plaza Invitational, Saturday and Sunday.
