ATLANTA, Ga. – The Southern Athletic Association has announced the men's basketball Player of the Week for games played February 11 - 17 and sophomore Larry Thomas of Birmingham-Southern claimed the weekly honor.
Larry Thomas led BSC to a 2-0 week and has been key part of the Panthers three-game winning streak to close the regular season. The Atlanta, Ga. native averaged 21.5 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 1.5 assists and shot 45.7 percent in two road wins for the Panthers. Thomas scored 25 points and had a season-high six rebounds along with four steals and one assists in Birmingham's 77-74 win at Oglethorpe. Thomas added 17 points and tied a season-high with six rebounds in a 53-50 win at Berry on Sunday. He has scored double figures in five straight games and in 22-of-25 games this season.
Birmingham-Southern plays Hendrix College in the first round of the SAA Conference tournament at 8 p.m. on the campus of Centre College in Danville, Ky.
