Richards averaged 13.3 points and nine rebounds in three SAA tournament games while making 53 percent of his field goal attempts (16-of-30). He also had three assists and three steals and was 8-of-10 from the free throw line. Richards finished his senior campaign as the second leading scorer averaging 14.7 points and led the team with 7.3 rebounds per game. The Hoover, Ala., native finished his career with 1039 career points and 560 rebounds.
Thomas averaged 10 points and just under seven rebounds in three games. The Atlanta, Ga., native also had four assists and four steals. Thomas finished the year as the Panthers' leading scorer averaging 16.2 points and was second with 5.3 rebounds per game with 40 assists and 18 steal.
Birmingham-Southern defeated Hendix College, 81-69, and Millsaps College, 63-47, en route to the SAA Men's Basketball championship game. The Panthers compiled a 20-7 overall record and were 9-4 in the SAA.
