  • Winter And Spring All-Academic Honor Roll Announced
    June 30, 2017
    ATLANTA – The SAA announced its Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll today for the 2017 spring term and a total of 1,033 student-athletes made the list. To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the term and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a sport sponsored by the conference.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern athletics department announced the winners of its big awards and recognized the accomplishments of the student-athletes at its 2017 Athletic Awards Dinner Monday night in the Norton Great Hall on BSC’s campus.
  • SAA Tournament: Free Throws Lift Rhodes over Panthers

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s basketball team held top seeded Rhodes College to under 100 points for only the third time this season, but could not get the right buckets to drop in the final seconds of the Southern Athletic Association championship Sunday afternoon and fell 98-95.

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A full team effort led the Birmingham-Southern men’s basketball team to its second consecutive Southern Athletic Association championship game after the Panthers upset second seeded Centre College 77-71 Saturday night.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Four Birmingham-Southern men’s basketball players were named to Southern Athletic Association All-Conference teams Friday. Ian Thom (Cold Spring, N.Y./Croton-Harmon HS) and Harrison Deneka (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) earned second-team honors for their performance this season.
  • Panthers Complete Comeback, Advance to Semifinals

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s basketball team erased a 17-point first half deficit to come back and defeat Oglethorpe University 62-59 in the Southern Athletic Association tournament quarterfinals Friday night. BSC (13-13) will take on #2 seed Centre College in the second semifinal on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. for a chance to defend their tournament title.
  • Panthers Win 74-58 Over Millsaps on Senior Day

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Seniors Evan Lewis (Birmingham, Ala./Ramsay HS) and Ian Thom (Cold Spring, N.Y./Croton-Harmon HS) led the Panthers to a 74-58 win in their final regular season game of the season. BSC (12-13, 8-6 SAA) will be the No. 3 seed in the Southern Athletic Association tournament next weekend.
  • Berry Sinks Free Throws to Down Panthers

    MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s basketball team took the lead with five seconds left, but a foul as time expired opened the door for Berry College Sunday afternoon. The Vikings hit both free throws to win 72-71 at home in a Southern Athletic Association showdown.

    ATLANTA, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team moved to 11-12 overall after falling 65-59 on the road at Oglethorpe University Friday night. The Panthers are now 7-5 in Southern Athletic Association play with the loss, and remain in third place in the league.
  • Men Upend Hendrix 67-54, Move to Third in SAA

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s basketball team downed Hendrix University 67-54 in a full team effort Sunday afternoon in Bill Battle Coliseum. BSC is now 11-11 overall. The win moved the Panthers into third place ahead of Hendrix in the Southern Athletic Association with a 7-4 record.
  • Panthers Run With Rhodes, Fall 122-98

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s basketball team battled in a fast-paced game against Southern Athletic Association rival Rhodes College Friday night in Bill Battle Coliseum. The Panthers hung with Rhodes in the first half, but could not overcome a big second half run and fell 122-98. They moved to 10-11 overall, 6-4 in SAA play.

    SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s basketball team fought off a late rally from Sewanee Friday afternoon to pull out the 67-62 road win. The Panthers are now 10-10 overall and 6-3 in the Southern Athletic Association.

    DANVILLE, Ky. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s basketball team could not hold off Centre College Friday night and fell 75-62 on the road. The Panthers are now 9-10 overall, 5-3 in Southern Athletic Association play.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Harrison Deneka (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) was named the Southern Athletic Association men’s basketball athlete of the week for his performance January 16-22.
  • Panthers Move to First in SAA with 80-68 Win Over Sewanee

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s basketball team held on for the 80-68 win at home in Bill Battle Coliseum against Southern Athletic Association rival Sewanee Sunday afternoon. The win put the Panthers in a tie for first in the league with Centre College. BSC is now 9-9 overall on the year, 5-2 in SAA play.
  • Tip-in At Buzzer Lifts Panthers Over Centre 91-89

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s basketball team upended Centre College 91-89 Friday night in Bill Battle Coliseum on a tip-in at the buzzer by sophomore Chris Graham (Dothan, Ala./Dothan HS). The come-from-behind win handed Centre its second Southern Athletic Conference loss of the season. BSC improved to 6-9 overall, 4-2 in SAA play.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s basketball team fought through a tough battle with Berry College Sunday afternoon in their second overtime bout this season to win 83-76. The Panthers are now 7-9 overall and move to 3-2 in Southern Athletic Association play.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s basketball team overcame a late 15-5 run by Hampden-Sydney to pull out the 57-53 comeback win Wednesday night in Bill Battle Coliseum. The Panthers move to 4-6 overall on the year and are 4-3 at home.

  • Panther Profile: Mateusz Rudak

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Mateusz "Matty" Rudak (Augustów, Poland/ Kinsale Community School, Ireland) is a sophomore on the Birmingham-Southern College men’s basketball team. Born in Agustów, Poland, he and his family moved to Kinsale, Ireland when he was in the fifth grade. He finished secondary school at Kinsale Community School. Rudak came to the states after graduating to complete a year of prep at Millbrook School in Millbrook, New York. Despite being geographically far from home, Rudak is very family oriented.
