BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team jumped out to a quick lead against Southern Athletic Association rival Oglethorpe University and never looked back. The Panthers cruised to an 82-68 win Friday night to improve to 6-9 overall and 2-2 in SAA play.
Ian Thom (Cold Spring, N.Y./Croton-Harmon HS) tied a career-high 20 points to lead the Panthers.
Harrison Deneka (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS), Matty Rudak (Augustów, Poland/Millbrook School), Evan Lewis (Birmingham, Ala./Ramsay HS) and Chris Graham (Dothan, Ala./Dothan HS) rounded out the Panthers in double-digits.
Deneka went 6-for-8 from the floor to earn 14 points. Rudak finished with 11 points. And both Lewis and Graham netted 10 points in the win.
The Panthers remain home for their next contest. They take on Berry College in a conference doubleheader with the women on Sunday, Jan. 15. The women tipoff at 1 p.m. and the men follow at 3 p.m.
