MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team took the lead with five seconds left, but a foul as time expired opened the door for Berry College Sunday afternoon. The Vikings hit both free throws to win 72-71 at home in a Southern Athletic Association showdown.
James McLean (Maitland, Fla./Winter Park HS) finished with a game-high 18 points. Matty Rudak (Augustów, Poland/Millbrook School) and Ian Thom (Cold Spring, N.Y./Croton-Harmon HS) earned 14 and 12 points, respectively.
The Panthers close out the regular season at home on Saturday, Feb. 18. It will be senior day and a doubleheader with the women against Millsaps College. The women's game will determine the SAA regular season champion and host for the 2017 tournament. Women tipoff at 1 p.m. with the men following at 3 p.m.
