BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team defeated Louisiana College 86-84 on Monday evening, improving to 2-0 on the season.
After battling neck-and-neck for the first seven minutes, the Panthers took a 19-16 lead with 12:40 to go in the first half after a three-pointer by sophomore Ben Spence (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS). BSC jumped out to a 42-34 lead at halftime, and although they were outscored by the Wildcats 50-44 in the second half, the Panthers held on to win after successfully converting five of six free throws in the final two minutes.
