CONWAY, Ark. – The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team picked up its third straight conference win on Sunday, taking down the Hendrix College Warriors 81-77.
In a game that saw 18 lead changes, a late three-point jumper by Bruce Bright Jr. (Birmingham, Ala./John Carroll HS) gave the Panthers the lead with 1:14 left, and two free-throws by Zachary Allison (Pelham, Ala./Wallace State CC) sealed the game with one second remaining.
Neither side dominated in the game, as the largest lead for either team in the game was an eight-point lead by BSC halfway through the first half.
Allison was BSC's leader scorer in the win with 16 points, adding two assists and five rebounds.
Three other Panthers scored in double-digits. Starters Calvin Bak (Muscle Shoals, Ala./Muscle Shoals HS) and Christian Stewart (Irondale, Ala./Shades Valley HS) scored 13 and 10 points, respectively, while Bright came off the bench to score 12 points.
With the win, the Panthers improve to 9-6 overall and 3-2 in the Southern Athletic Association. After starting 0-2 in conference, BSC has won its last three.
Birmingham-Southern will return to the Hilltop for its next game, a conference matchup against the Sewanee Tigers on Friday, Jan. 18 at 8 p.m.
