DANVILLE, Ky. – The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team dropped its game at Southern Athletic Association rival Centre 73-54 on Sunday afternoon.
Turnovers and shooting woes plagued the Panthers inside Alumni Gymnasium. BSC had 17 turnovers in the game and shot just 38 percent from the field.
The home side took its first lead with 16:15 to go in the first half and did not surrender it for the remainder of the game.
Sophomore forward Christian Stewart (Irondale, Ala./Shades Valley HS) led the Panthers in the loss with 15 points and eight rebounds. Senior point guard Zachary Allison (Pelham, Ala./Wallace State CC), the team's leading scorer this season averaging 12.9 points per game, finished the contest with 13 points.
With the loss, the Panthers fall to 10-9 overall and 4-5 in the SAA. After a four-game win streak in the conference, BSC has now lost three straight to SAA opponents and are tied for fifth in the standings.
Birmingham-Southern will stay on the road and look to rebound in its next game at Oglethorpe on Friday, Feb. 1. Tipoff for the game against the Stormy Petrels is set for 8 p.m.
