Jonathan Vines joined the Birmingham-Southern Men’s Basketball staff in January 2007.
Vines' duties include floor coaching, recruiting, scouting, player development, and strength and conditioning. He also serves as Director of BSC team and individual camps during the summer as well as the annual BSC Panther Masters alumni golf tournament.
A native of Birmingham, Ala., Vines starred at Briarwood Christian High School for Coach Chris Laatsch. He earned All-State, All-Metro and ABC 33/40 Player of The Week honors in addition to being named Shelby County Player of The Year by the Birmingham News. Vines achieved local-legend status when he set a 3A state record for consecutive free throws during the 1998-99 season, connecting on 49 straight attempts.
Vines went on to play college ball at Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., from 1999-2000 under former Ole Miss and Houston Rockets great John Stroud.
A 2003 graduate of the University of Mississippi, Vines earned a Bachelor's degree in English and has completed extensive Master's work in English Literature with a focus on Old English and Linguistics. He is the son of Dr. Alan and Patti Vines.
