BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s golf team finished in third place after the final round of the 2009 BSC Spring Invitational at Oxmoor Valley Golf Course.
The University of West Georgia Wolves finished atop the leader board with a combined score of 593 at 17-over par for the two days. Lee University edged the Panthers by one stroke for second. Lee finished 601 (+25) while BSC ended the day 602 (+26). Tennessee Wesleyan (608, +32); Covenant College (644, +68); Lewis University (653, +77); Lambuth University (654, +78); Shenandoah University (657, +81); and Millsaps College (702, +126) rounded out the field. William Carey University put up a 310 round today after being disqualified on the first day of play.
Matt Hungerman of William Carey finished one-under par with a two-day 143 performance to take first in the individual honors. #Nick Blakely# posted the best score of any Panther in the tournament after posting the lowest score for the second round. Blakely finished at four-over and a 148 total.
#Matt Barnes# and #Ryan Falgout# tied with three other golfers to finish in ninth place at six-over par for the tournament.
The Panthers will travel across town on March 9 to play in the Samford Intercollegiate Classic.
