BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Nick Blakely finished third overall and helped lead the BSC Golf team to a fourth place tie in the team standings in the two day 2008 Southern Showdown at the Oxmoor Valley Golf Course. His second round 67 was the lowest single round score of any player in the tournament.
Samuel de Val of Berry College finished first overall with 211 for all three rounds. M.J. Dauffe from Lee University finished six strokes over that for a 217, then came Blakely’s 222. Berry College finished at the top of the team leaderboard shooting a combined 895 for the Showdown. Lee finished second with 902, Mobile came in third at 917 and William Carey and Birmingham-Southern tied for fourth place at 931 each.
The Birmingham-Southern golf team will be on the road in two weeks at the Chick-fil-a Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Berry College. The two-day tournament begins on Monday, October 6 and finishes up on Tuesday , October 7 in Rome, Georgia at the Coosa Country Club.
