FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga.—The Birmingham-Southern men's golf team finished 13th at the Royal Lakes Fall Invitational, hosted by top-ranked defending national champion Oglethorpe at Royal Lakes Golf Club in Flowery Branch, Ga.
BSC had a team score of 631, 10 strokes behind No. 24 Rhodes. Oglethorpe won the tournament with a score of 582, followed by No. 2 Methodist with 585 and No. 19 Christopher Newport with 597.
Oglethorpe's Anthony Maccaglia won the individual crown with a score of 139 (69-70), followed by Christopher Newport's Scott Davidson and Methodist's Mike Wesko tied for second with 142.
Junior Michael Wallace was the Panthers' top finisher with a two-round total of 154 (79-75), followed by junior Daniel Morris with 155 (80-75), freshman Tyler Shope with 159 (79-80), junior Phillip Brol with 164 (81-83), and freshman David Stewart with 165 (83-82).
The tournament field consisted of nine teams ranked in the top 25 in the August 29 version of the Golf Coaches Association of America poll.
BSC wraps up its fall slate in two weeks at the Millsaps Collegiate in Madison, Miss., Oct. 22-23.
