Panthers finish 15th at Emory Spring Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga.--The Birmingham-Southern men's golf team finished 15th today after the final round of the Emory Spring Invitational at Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga.

The Panthers carded a two-round team total of 624. Freshman Tyler Shope led the squad after hitting 77 yesterday and 76 today, placing 39th overall. Junior Daniel Morris was second for BSC and 49th overall with 154 (78-76), followed by junior Michael Wallace at 56th with 156 (78-78), junior Thomas Boydstun with 164 (84-80), and freshman Spencer Honey with 166 (81-85).

The field of 15 teams featured eight top-25 squads, including No. 1 Oglethorpe, No. 2 Methodist, and the seventh-ranked host Eagles. Other ranked teams were No. 11 Guilford, No. 12 Transylvania, No. 19 LaGrange, No. 20 Centre, and No. 24 Christopher Newport.

Top-ranked Oglethorpe won the tournament with a team score of 571, followed by No. 2 Methodist with 578 and Huntingdon with 589. OU's Anthony Maccaglia won the individual title after carding 71 yesterday and 67 today for a total of 138.

The Panthers wrap up the 2013 season in three weeks, hosting the Southern Athletic Association Championship, April 26-28, at Limestone Springs Golf Club in Oneonta, Ala.
