Men's Golf tied for 13th after round one of Rhodes Fall Classic

TUNICA, Miss.—After the first round of the 2013 Rhodes Fall Classic, played at Tunica National Golf Course in Tunica, Miss., the Birmingham-Southern men's golf team is tied for 13th in the field of 20 teams with a score of 306.

Freshman Patrick Newsom shot 74 today to lead the Panthers, followed by senior Michael Wallace with 75, sophomore Nick Vick with 76, senior Daniel Morris with 81, and senior Phillip Brol with 84. Newsom is tied for 20th among all individuals.

The Panthers tied with UT Dallas in the team standings, and are just one stroke back from Centre with 305. Rhodes leads the field with 292, followed by No. 12 Wittenberg and No. 15 Texas-Tyler at second with 293.

Play resumes tomorrow morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start for the remaining 36 holes of the Classic.
