TUNICA, Miss.—After two days of tough competition at Tunica National Golf Course in Tunica, Miss., the Birmingham-Southern men's golf team placed 14th in the Rhodes College Fall Classic on Monday.
BSC (625) placed 14th in the 18-team field. The University of Texas at Tyler, who finished with a two-day total of 583, won the event by five shots. Southwestern University finished in second with a combined score of 588, followed by Texas Lutheran University with a two-round total of 590.
Fellow Southern Athletic Association members Rhodes College (598) and Centre College (603) rounded out the top five.
Freshman Steven LaMay (75,75) shot the low score for the Panthers, with a combined total of 150, which tied him for 21st overall. Fellow freshman Connor David (79,77) was the second Panther finisher, carding a 156. Tanner Dixon (81,80) shot a 161, Evan Piedrahita (82,80) scored a 162, and Nick Vick (78,85) rounded out the top five finishing with a 163.
Both the BSC men's and women's teams will continue their fall seasons Sept. 28-30 at the SAA Preview tournament at Old Fort Golf Course in Murfreesboro, Tenn., which will also be the site of the 2015 SAA Golf Championships.
