Men's Golf places fifth at SAA Championship

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—Led by junior Spencer Honey, who tied for 12th overall, the Birmingham-Southern men's golf team finished in fifth place at the 2015 Southern Athletic Association Championship at Old Fort Golf Course in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

The Panthers posted a team total of 896, 11 strokes behind fourth-place No. 21 Centre. Berry won the tournament with a three-day total of 852, followed by No. 1 Oglethorpe with 857 and No. 12 Rhodes with 882.

Honey carded 74 today for a three-day total of 219 (74-71-74) to tie for 12th, followed by sophomore Patrick Newsom with 221 (71-76-74), putting him at 16th. Sophomore Tanner Dixon carded 224 (71-75-78), followed by freshman Steven LaMay with 233 (80-78-75), sophomore Evan Piedrahita with 237 (82-78-77), and sophomore Jonathan Cook with 257 (87-86-84).
