  • LaMay, Krieger Named All-America Scholars

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Steven LaMay (Parkland, Fla./Westminster Academy) and Torben Krieger (Ruppichteroth, Germany / Bodelschwingh-Gymnasium Herchen) of Birmingham-Southern men’s golf were named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
  • Winter And Spring All-Academic Honor Roll Announced

    ATLANTA – The SAA announced its Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll today for the 2017 spring term and a total of 1,033 student-athletes made the list. To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the term and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a sport sponsored by the conference.
  • Men’s Golf Received Votes in Final Regular Season Poll

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern College men’s golf team closed out its 2017 season receiving votes in the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll. The Panthers were one of the six Southern Athletic Association teams recognized on the poll. BSC finished fourth at the conference championships and had the tournament co-champion Steven LaMay (Parkland, Fla./Westminster Academy).

    These were the top male student-athletes from their respective sports during the 2016-17 athletic season who were nominated for the BSC Male Athlete of the Year award.
  • Panthers Named to SAA All-Sportsmanship Teams

    ATLANTA – The Southern Athletic Association announced the 2017 Spring Sports All-Sportsmanship Teams and 79 student-athletes among the league’s eight full-time members received recognition. Formed in 2011, the SAA places a special emphasis on good sportsmanship and fair play among all competitors.
  • BSC Holds Annual Athletics Dinner

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern athletics department announced the winners of its big awards and recognized the accomplishments of the student-athletes at its 2017 Athletic Awards Dinner Monday night in the Norton Great Hall on BSC’s campus.
  • SAA CHAMPION: LaMay Wins Individual Title, Men Finish Fourth

    MAUMELLE, Ark. – Steven LaMay (Parkland, Fla./Westminster Academy) shot a tournament low 68 to come back and tie for the Southern Athletic Association individual championship Sunday. The junior moved up 10 spots in the final round to earn the first conference title of his career.
  • SAA Championships: Raney Tied for Fourth, Men Sixth

    MAUMELLE, Ark. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s golf team moved into sixth place at the Southern Athletic Association Championships Saturday. The Panthers improved by 16 shots for a second round score of 297 and sit two strokes out of fifth.

    MAUMELLE, Ark. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s golf team is tied for fifth place after the first round of the Southern Athletic Association Championships Friday. The Panthers shot 313 as a team to tie with Oglethorpe.

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s golf team finished sixth overall out of 15 teams at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate Tuesday. Steven LaMay (Parkland, Fla./Westminster Academy) and Blake Schambeau (Hoover, Ala./Hoover HS) placed top 20 individually to lead the Panthers.

    JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s golf team closed play at the Jekyll Island Collegiate in 21st place out of 29 teams. The Panthers hit 314 in the final round.

    JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s golf team is in 20th place after two rounds of the Jekyll Island Collegiate. The Panthers hit 307 in round one and 305 in round two.

    PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s golf team finished 15th at the Calloway Gardens Intercollegiate Tuesday. This was the Panthers first tournament of the spring season.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern College Hall of Fame class of 2016 was inducted Friday night. Frank “Buddy” Cairns (deceased), Rachel Malmborg Skweres, Joe Nasco, John Quinn, and Joe Thigpen join the long list of Panthers immortalized in the hall.

  • Men’s Golf Receiving Votes in Coaches Poll

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern College men’s golf team is receiving votes in the recent Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll, the Golf Coaches Association of America released Friday. This is the first time in recent years that BSC has been recognized in the poll.
  • Panthers Win Quayle Classic, Raney Individual Champion

    DANVILLE, Ind. – Gunnar Raney (Tampa, Fla./Plant HS) and the Birmingham-Southern men’s golf team won the Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic at Twin Bridges Golf Club Sunday. Raney shot a 70 in round two to win the individual title by one shot. The Panthers took the team title by 16 shots.
  • Raney Hits Hole-in-One; Panthers Tied for First

    DANVILLE, Ind. – Freshman Gunnar Raney (Tampa, Fla./Plant HS) hit a hole-in-one on the 16th hole Saturday en route to a team low score of 75 and a tie for fourth place at the Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic. The Panthers are tied for first place after the first round at the Twin Bridges Golf Club.
  • BSC Finishes Ninth at Rhodes Fall Classic

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern men’s golf team finished ninth at the Rhodes College Fall Classic Monday. Blake Schambeau (Hoover, Ala./Hoover HS) shot a 77 in the second round to finish 19th overall.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern men’s golf sits in seventh place at the Rhodes College Fall Classic after day one of competition. The Panthers had three finish under 75, led by Blake Schambeau (Hoove, Ala./Hoover HS) who is currently eighth overall out of 96.
  • Schmidt Named New BSC Golf Head Coach

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern College Athletics Director Kyndall Waters has named Richard Schmidt the new men’s and women’s golf head coach. Schmidt has been an assistant golf professional at the Country Club of Birmingham and Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis during his career, conducting clinics and organizing golf tournaments.
  • Three Named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Three Birmingham-Southern College men’s golfers were named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Tanner Dixon (Hoover, Ala./Hoover HS), Torben Krieger (Ruppichteroth, Germany/Bodelschwingh-Gymnasium Herchen), and Patrick Newsom (Decatur, Ala./Decatur HS) were among the 41 recognized in all of NCAA Division III.
