Panthers Win Quayle Classic, Raney Individual Champion

DANVILLE, Ind. – Gunnar Raney (Tampa, Fla./Plant HS) and the Birmingham-Southern men's golf team won the Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic at Twin Bridges Golf Club Sunday. Raney shot a 70 in round two to win the individual title by one shot. The Panthers took the team title by 16 shots.

 

Raney finished in first with a two-day total of 145.  Blake Schambeau (Hoover, Ala./Hoover HS), Conley Miller (Hoover, Ala./Spain Park HS) and Steven LaMay (Parkland, Fla./Westminster Academy) tied for sixth with a two-day total of 151 to earn all-tournament honors. 

 

Torben Krieger (Ruppichteroth, Germany / Bodelschwingh-Gymnasium Herchen) shot a 73 in round two to help the Panthers secure the win.

 

BSC remains on the road. The Panthers head to Flowery Branch, Ga. for the Oglethrope Royal Lakes Fall Invitational Monday, Oct. 3.  The tournament is three days long and is held at the Royal Lakes Country Club.
