AUSTIN, Texas – The Birmingham-Southern men's golf team finished tied for sixth place among 18 teams at the Linda Lowery Invitational on Friday.
BSC shot a 308, collectively, in round one before shooting a 323 on the second day, putting them in a tie with Dallas.
The Panthers were led by junior Colin MacLane (Oviedo, Fla./The Master's Academy), who finished 14-over for the tournament. MacLane shot a 75 in his first round, good enough to put him in the top 10, but an 81 on Friday pushed him outside the top 20 into a tie for 23rd.
Seniors Steven LaMay (Parkland, Fla./Westminster Academy) and Torben Krieger (Ruppichteroth, Germany / Bodelschwingh-Gymnasium Herchen) and sophomore Blake Schambeau (Hoover, Ala./Hoover HS) all finished in the top 40.
LaMay and Krieger both finished 16-over par to put them in a tie for 33rd. Schambeau ended in a tie for 39th place with a 17-over, 159.
Sophomore Conley Miller (Hoover, Ala./Spain Park HS) tied for 68th after shooting a 167 for the tournament.
Birmingham-Southern's next tournament will be in Pine Mountain, Ga. at the Callaway Gardens Collegiate March 4-6.
