JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern men's golf team tied for 17th place among 30 teams at the 2018 Jekyll Island Collegiate on Sunday.
Junior Colin MacLane (Oviedo, Fla./The Master's Academy) led the Panthers at the Pine Lakes Golf Club, finishing at even par for the tournament.
After a tough round one where he shot six-over, MacLane rebounded in rounds two and three, finishing at two-under on Saturday and ending the tournament with a four-under, 68 on Sunday to get back to even. He placed 17th with his performance.
Senior Steven LaMay (Parkland, Fla./Westminster Academy) also placed in the top 50, finishing tied for 31st with a three-round 220. LaMay had rounds of 77 and 74 on Friday and Saturday, respectively, but shot a three-under 69 in the final round to get to four-over for the tournament.
As a team, BSC shot 899 in three rounds. The Panthers improved their scores each day, shooting 315 on Friday before improving by 26 strokes on Saturday. They finished round three with a 290 to get them to 35-over par for the tournament.
Birmingham-Southern's next competition will be at the Emory Spring Invitational at the Smoke Rise Country Club in Stone Mountain, Ga., April 6-8.
