Panthers Place Eighth at SAA Preview

DICKSON, Tenn. – The Birmingham-Southern men's golf team opened up its season at the Southern Athletic Association Preview tournament at the Greystone Golf Club on Sunday, finishing in eighth place.

Senior Colin MacLane (Oviedo, Fla./The Master's Academy) was BSC's top finisher, placing ninth at -2 (142). MacLane shot 71 in each of his two rounds.

Juniors Thomas Iturbe (Mobile, Ala./UMS-Wright HS) and Blake Schambeau (Hoover, Ala./Hoover HS) both finished tied for 41st place. Iturbe shot rounds of 77 and 75 while Schambeau shot 79 and 73 in his two rounds.

Junior Conley Miller (Hoover, Ala./Spain Park HS) also finished in the top 50, tying for 49th with a two-round 153.

Birmingham-Southern ended the first round of the tournament in 12th place but improved four positions to place in eighth place. BSC finished at +21, 597 as a team.

The Panthers will travel to Tunica National in Tunica, Mississippi for their next tournament, the Rhodes College Classic, on Sept. 22-24.
