BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Steven LaMay (Parkland, Fla./Westminster Academy) and Torben Krieger (Ruppichteroth, Germany / Bodelschwingh-Gymnasium Herchen) of Birmingham-Southern men’s golf were named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
ATLANTA – The SAA announced its Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll today for the 2017 spring term and a total of 1,033 student-athletes made the list. To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the term and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a sport sponsored by the conference.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern College men’s golf team closed out its 2017 season receiving votes in the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll. The Panthers were one of the six Southern Athletic Association teams recognized on the poll. BSC finished fourth at the conference championships and had the tournament co-champion Steven LaMay (Parkland, Fla./Westminster Academy).
ATLANTA – The Southern Athletic Association announced the 2017 Spring Sports All-Sportsmanship Teams and 79 student-athletes among the league’s eight full-time members received recognition. Formed in 2011, the SAA places a special emphasis on good sportsmanship and fair play among all competitors.

MAUMELLE, Ark. – Steven LaMay (Parkland, Fla./Westminster Academy) shot a tournament low 68 to come back and tie for the Southern Athletic Association individual championship Sunday. The junior moved up 10 spots in the final round to earn the first conference title of his career.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s golf team finished sixth overall out of 15 teams at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate Tuesday. Steven LaMay (Parkland, Fla./Westminster Academy) and Blake Schambeau (Hoover, Ala./Hoover HS) placed top 20 individually to lead the Panthers.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern College Hall of Fame class of 2016 was inducted Friday night. Frank “Buddy” Cairns (deceased), Rachel Malmborg Skweres, Joe Nasco, John Quinn, and Joe Thigpen join the long list of Panthers immortalized in the hall.

DANVILLE, Ind. – Gunnar Raney (Tampa, Fla./Plant HS) and the Birmingham-Southern men’s golf team won the Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic at Twin Bridges Golf Club Sunday. Raney shot a 70 in round two to win the individual title by one shot. The Panthers took the team title by 16 shots.
DANVILLE, Ind. – Freshman Gunnar Raney (Tampa, Fla./Plant HS) hit a hole-in-one on the 16th hole Saturday en route to a team low score of 75 and a tie for fourth place at the Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic. The Panthers are tied for first place after the first round at the Twin Bridges Golf Club.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern men’s golf team finished ninth at the Rhodes College Fall Classic Monday. Blake Schambeau (Hoover, Ala./Hoover HS) shot a 77 in the second round to finish 19th overall.
