ASHLAND, Va. – The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team fell on the road tonight to Randolph-Macon College, 20-9. The Panthers drop to 3-6 on the season, while the Yellow Jackets move to 4-2.
#Jacob McPherson# registered an unassisted goal just 30 seconds into the contest to open the scoring and put BSC up 1-0, but R-MC responded with four consecutive goals. The Panthers clawed their way back, though, netting three goals in the final 4:05 of the first quarter to tie the game 4-4.
The Yellow Jackets scored twice to open the second quarter and go up 6-4. After the Panthers responded with a tally of their own, R-MC scored eight unanswered goals to enter halftime with a 14-5 lead.
The Yellow Jackets yielded a pair of goals to begin the second half, but were able to score two of their own to give Randolph-Macon an 18-7 lead with 11 minutes remaining in regulation. Both squads would tally two goals in the final 8:45 of regulation as the Yellow Jackets prevailed with the 20-9 win.
McPherson ended the game with three goals and led the team with nine ground balls. #Cameron Overton# made 11 saves for the Panthers in goal.
BSC stays on the road for its next game, traveling to face Colorado College this Sunday, March 29, at 1 p.m. MT in Colorado Springs, Colo.
