ST. LOUIS - The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team finished the 2010 season with a 16-10 win over the Fontbonne University Griffins.

After BSC opened the game with a 5-1 lead, Fontbonne cut it to 5-3 at the beginning of the second quarter. The Panthers responded by scoring three of the next four goals to take a 8-4 lead into halftime.
Fontbonne scored a man-up goal just 45 seconds into halftime to trim the lead to 8-5. 'Southern scored two more quick goals to take a 10-5 lead and looked as they were going to pull away. Fontbonne responded by scoring the last three goals of the third quarter to trail just 10-8 heading into the fourth quarter.
Birmingham-Southern however would score three goals in the first six minutes of the fourth quarter to take a 13-8 lead. Fontbonne scored another man-up goal to cut the lead to 13-9 but couldn’t get any closer.
For the day, Fontbonne senior Brooks McGee and freshman Peter Travis had two goals and three assists apiece. Griffin senior Ray Medalla and freshman Doug Udel each had two goals. In the goal, Fontbonne seniors Jake Hirschfeld and Austen Doster each allowed eight goals. Doster earned four saves while Hirschfeld had three.
Birmingham Southern outshot Fontbonne 45-36. Birmingham Southern finished 3-9 on man-up opportunities while Fontbonne was 2-10.
