Matt Ivie named SCAC Co-Newcomer of the Year

SUWANEE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the men's lacrosse post-season awards this afternoon.

#Matt Ivie# led the way for the Panthers with two awards, making the First Team All-SCAC as well as sharing the Newcomer of the Year award with Sewanee's Thomas Moore.

Ivie, a first-year attacker from Alpharetta, Ga., tallied 38 points on 27 goals and 11 assists. His 38 points tied for the team lead while his 27 goals were second on the team. Ivie also ranked in the top 10 in the SCAC in points per game (6th – 2.38/game) and goals per game (7th – 1.69/game) while also totaling 30 ground balls.

Joining Matt on the First team are midfielder #Jacob McPherson#, goalie #Cameron Overton#, and defender and team captain #Ben Schaefer#.  McPherson led the team in points with 38 and goals with 28.  Overton played solid in goal all season, collecting 179 saves in his 13 appearances. Schaefer had a good return to form after missing last season due to injury with 41 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers to anchor the Panther defense.    

The Panthers were also well represented on the second team as #Nicco DeRosa#, #Payson Clark#, and #David Litton# made the list.

#Eli Burnham# was also recognized by the conference as BSC's selection to the All-Sportsmanship team.

The Panthers finished their second season of competition with a 7-8 overall record and a 3-1 mark in SCAC-play, good for second place.
