ATLANTA—The Birmingham-Southern men’s lacrosse team lost today to fifth-ranked Roanoke College, 17-8, in Atlanta. The Panthers fall to 0-2 with the loss, while Roanoke moves to 3-0.
The Maroons out-scored BSC 4-1 in the first quarter and 5-4 in the second quarter to lead 9-5 at the half. Roanoke came out in the third quarter and scored three straight goals to go up 12-5, and BSC scored one more before the end of the third. In the fourth, the Maroons out-scored the Panthers 5-2.
Sophomore Matt Ivie led BSC with four goals, and junior Chris Clarke and sophomore Andrew Huffman led with four ground balls apiece. Clarke also led with five caused turnovers, and Huffman played in goal for the Panthers and recorded 17 saves.
The Panthers return home this Wednesday, March 9, taking on Berry College at 7 p.m. in Panther Stadium.
