BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team recorded an impressive 23-0 shutout of Millsaps College, Friday evening in Panther Stadium. The Panthers are now 2-4 on the season and 1-0 in SCAC action.
BSC scored six goals in the first period and seven in the second to lead 13-0 at the half, then scored five goals in both the third and fourth periods.
Sophomore Matt Ivie had four goals, while sophomores Nicco DeRosa and Zach Hesson and junior Jacob McPherson had three goals apiece. Junior D.J. Ward recorded four assists, and sophomore Brennan Ott had 16 ground balls. Ott and DeRosa also led with four caused turnovers each, and Ott was 11-of-12 in face-offs.
The Panthers racked up 70 total shots to Millsaps' four, and 76 ground balls to the Majors' 20. BSC led 21-of-28 in face-offs and was 21-of-23 on clear attempts to Millsaps' 7-of-39.
BSC is at home again this Sunday at 1 p.m. taking on Hendrix College in Panther Stadium.
