MEMPHIS, Tenn.—The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team won its fourth straight game today, defeating Rhodes 17-2 on the road.
The Panthers move to 11-3 overall and 6-1 in the SCAC and are tied for second in the conference standings.
Over the past four games, BSC has out-scored its opponents 80-12.
The Panthers scored twice in the first quarter and seven times in the second quarter to lead 9-0 at the half. BSC led 14-0 before the Lynx got on the board in the fourth quarter.
Freshman Erik Klein led with four goals. Senior D.J. Ward, junior Matt Ivie, and freshman Reed Butler all scored two goals each. Butler, junior Brennan Ott, and freshman Will Slinkard all led with four ground balls apiece.
Junior goalkeeper Andrew Huffman played the entire game and recorded seven saves.
BSC out-shot Rhodes 54-16 and won 15-of-23 face-offs. The Panthers were also 12-of-12 on clears and had 36 ground balls to Rhodes' 19.
BSC returns home next weekend for the final two games of the regular season, hosting Centre on Friday at 6 p.m. and Sewanee on Sunday at 5 p.m. for Senior Day. The Panthers then host the 2012 SCAC Championship, April 27 and 29.
