Big Second Half Lifts Goucher Past BSC Men’s Lacrosse

GREENSBORO, N.C. --  Goucher College (1-0) scored 11 second half goals to upend the Birmingham-Southern  Men's Lacrosse team (1-1) 13-9 in a neutral site contest Saturday at Appenzeller Field in Greensboro, N.C.

The Panthers held a 4-2 halftime lead. Reed Butler and Evan Lelande scored goals to give BSC a 2-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.  Luke Herline, who had two goals and three assists, on the day, gave BSC a 3-1 lead with 5:16 left in the second quarter. Matt Ivie, who had four goals on the day, added the final goal of the first half with 2:21 remaining.

Goucher scored five goals in the third quarter to tie the game, 7-7, heading into the final period.

Ivie scored all three of the Panthers fourth quarter goals with Herline assisting on two goals.

Herline and Nicco DeRossa tallied fourth quarter goals for BSC.

Huffman had 11 saves for the Panthers in goal while Goucher's Connor Mishaw totaled 15 saves in 58 minutes.

Pierce Ingram led Goucher with four goals and two assists followed by Zachary Fratella with three goals followed by Sam Morgan had with two goals and two assists.

The Panthers return to the field in another neutral site game against Carthage on Saturday at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn. , a time to be announced.
